PRIVACY
What this site counts.
I keep a simple count of visits so I know whether the site is useful. No cookies, no ad networks, no fingerprinting, and no third-party trackers.
What I record about a visit
- The page you opened, the time, and the site that linked to me (just its name, like linkedin.com).
- A
?ref=tag if you arrived through a link I tagged, for example one I put in an application. - Clicks on key links: email, LinkedIn, GitHub and the résumé downloads.
- Your country and city, your device type (mobile, tablet or desktop), and the name of the network the visit came from (for example an internet provider or a company network). All of this is worked out from your IP address.
What I don't record
- Your IP address is never stored. It is used for a moment to work out the items above and to build an anonymous code that changes every day, so a repeat visit on the same day isn't counted twice. That code cannot be traced back to you.
- Nothing is stored in a cookie. The
?ref=tag is kept in your browser's session storage until you close the tab. - If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, nothing is recorded at all.
If you use the intro form
The name, email, company, message and topic you send, plus the same coarse location and network details as above, are emailed to me and stored so I can reply. I use them only to answer you. Write topratishthaabrol@gmail.com and I'll delete them.
How long I keep things
Visit and click records are deleted after 90 days. Intro-form messages are kept until you ask me to delete them. Once a week I receive a summary of the counts by email.
Who handles the data
This site is hosted on GitHub Pages. Visit counts and intro messages are handled by a small program of mine running on Cloudflare, and emails are sent through Resend. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts.
